On May 30, the City of Sarnia unveiled its brand-new Emergency Management Mobile Command Bus. This high-tech vehicle will act as a central hub during major emergencies, helping different response teams work together more efficiently on the scene.
The new bus replaces an older unit and comes equipped with several workstations, secure communication tools, and a direct connection to the City’s network. It also has cameras that give emergency crews live video from the scene, helping them make faster, more informed decisions.
“The new command unit brings us up to date in how we coordinate efforts seamlessly across organizations on the ground as we respond to large-scale emergencies,” said Deputy Fire Chief and Community Emergency Management Coordinator James Kostuk.
The $800,000 investment was supported in part by a $200,000 donation from BASES.
“BASES is proud to support the City of Sarnia with this important community investment,” said General Manager Jason Vaillant. “This mobile command unit strengthens the ability to respond effectively to local emergencies and reflects our shared commitment to safety and emergency preparedness.”
The addition of the mobile command bus enhances the City’s capacity to manage complex emergencies and reinforces the strong collaboration between emergency services, industrial teams, and community organizations.
