INEOS Community Notification

Incident Details: INEOS Styrolution is notifying the community as a proactive precaution that hourly benzene emissions on-site have been detected above 0.021 parts-per million. On Sept 25th, an eGC was placed adjacent to Tank 8 and the road as part of upcoming Tank 8 degassing activities to begin Oct 2nd. The area is being thoroughly monitored, there have been no changes in operation and there are no active leaks. Monitoring in the area shows that elevated emissions are predominantly caused by normal Tank 8 breathing. Significant emissions are also being detected from the intersection adjacent to the monitor. This notification is preemptive, and no adverse effects are anticipated with these elevated readings. Additional notifications may occur, no community action is required. Note: INEOS Styrolution is not the only source of benzene in the area.
