CAER Community Awareness Notification – Suncor Sarnia Refinery

Incident Details: At approximately 6:05 p.m. this evening, the Suncor Sarnia refinery experienced a brief period of black smoke from the flare. While the appearance of black smoke can be concerning, the flare returned to normal appearance after approximately five minutes. We are now in the process of returning the unit to normal service. CAER and SAC have both been notified about this activity.
