SLEA unveils new air monitoring station in Corunna
June 22, 2022/By: Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability
Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association (SLEA) operates nine state-of-the art air monitoring stations and one downriver water monitoring facility. Information from these stations is used in assessments conducted by First Nations, regulatory agencies, municipalities, member companies, academics, special interest groups, and community stakeholders. Data can be reported and analyzed over time to identify trends. Measurements may also be used to trigger alarms, notify/inform the public, and even support emergency response teams.
The Paddock Green Park air monitoring station is the newest addition to the SLEA network. SLEA worked in collaboration with St. Clair Township to site the unit in Corunna at a location across from the Sir John Moore elementary school. This station was constructed locally by Intertec Instrumentation Ltd. and installed by OSP Contractors Inc. – both of which are located in the Aamjiwnaang First Nation Industrial Park. RWDI Consulting migrated equipment from the previous Riverbend station to the new Paddock Green Park location and led station commissioning and start-up.
