CAER Community Awareness Notification – Suncor Refinery

Incident Details: Due to an interruption in one of its process units, the Suncor Sarnia refinery is in the process of safety returning the unit to regular operation. As a result, community members may have noticed a brief period where the flare was larger than normal and smoke was present. As work continues to return the unit to regular operation, there could be intermittent periods of flaring and increased noise. We are conducting perimeter monitoring as an added safety precaution and have provided information to CAER and the Spills Action Centre.
