Imperial Oil and City of Sarnia complete notification pilot
October 15, 2020/By: Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability
Imperial Oil and the City of Sarnia have recently completed a pilot project to test and verify a new, modern regional notification system that will improve timeliness and quality of industrial incident notifications.
Currently, CAER member companies provide incident notifications to Sarnia Dispatch using hard copy fax forms. This new digital notification system, called Everbridge, completely digitizes these notifications, allowing for companies to more quickly and effectively communicate with the regional support network in the event that a CAER Code needs to be issued.
This pilot project has laid the groundwork for a regional shift to the digital notification technology, which will now see the remaining CAER member companies transition to Everbridge in the future. This transition will also allow CAER member companies to send notifications to subscribers through the MyCNN application.
Sarnia-Lambton area residents will have the ability to sign up to receive notifications for various companies ultimately enhancing current communication and notification tools.
This technology was utilized by the City of Sarnia in the early stages of the COVID-19 Pandemic as well, showcasing the tool’s ability to provide timely updates to the community in a tried and tested manner.
