June 5, 2024/By: Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability
This spring, BASES has been actively engaging with the community through various outreach events, spreading awareness about local emergency protocols and the Sarnia-Lambton Alerts system. Here are some highlights:
Sarnia Home Show and Age-Friendly Expo – Representatives from BASES and Sarnia Fire joined forces at the Sarnia Home Show and Age-Friendly Expo, to provide crucial information on emergency preparedness and the Sarnia-Lambton Alerts notification system, helping residents stay informed and ready.
Kiwanis Golden K Club Presentation – Our team was honoured to present to the Kiwanis Golden K Club, sharing information about the BASES organization and the work we do through our Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Monitoring, and Safety Partnership divisions.
Steps for Life Walk – BASES proudly participated in the Steps for Life Walk, raising funds for Threads of Life, an organization dedicated to supporting families affected by workplace tragedies and showcasing a commitment to safety beyond the workplace.
City-Wide Park Clean-Up for Earth Day – BASES joined the city-wide park clean-up for Earth Day. This initiative not only beautified our parks but also underscored the importance of community collaboration in protecting our environment.
Day of Mourning Ceremony – At the Day of Mourning ceremony held on April 28, BASES’ Steve Butterfield was honoured to join the distinguished speakers to speak about mental health and the impact on workplace safety. This solemn event served as a reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and care in all work environments.
Through these activities, BASES continues to strengthen community ties and promote safety, preparedness, and well-being. We look forward to more opportunities to raise awareness and make a positive impact.
