CAER Community Awareness Notification – Suncor Sarnia Refinery

Incident Details: This morning, the Suncor Sarnia refinery experienced a brief power interruption as a result of an issue with a third-party service provider. We immediately implemented our response plan and power has been restored. As we return to normal operation, community members will notice an increase in flaring and the presence of black smoke for a period of time. As an added safety precaution, we are conducting perimeter monitoring. We have notified the Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks, CAER and Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

INTRODUCING
Effective, January 1, 2024, the industrial Education Co-operative (IEC), Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER), and Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association (SLEA) will officially become the Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (BASES).
As Sarnia-Lambton's Industry Partner, BASES will build on the extraordinary achievements of its three legacy organizations that have been built over the past seventy years, with a focus on worker safety, emergency preparedness, and environmental monitoring within Sarnia-Lambton.
