MEDIA RELEASE: October 25, 2023
BASES (Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability) is excited to announce the launch of a new organization focused on worker safety, emergency preparedness, and environmental monitoring within the region.
As Sarnia-Lambton’s Industry Partner, BASES will build on the extraordinary achievements of its three legacy organizations – the Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association (SLEA), Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER), and Industrial Education Co-operative (IEC) – that have been built over the past seventy years. BASES’ remains steadfast in its commitment to improving worker safety, enhancing emergency preparedness, and advancing environmental initiatives, as well as fostering trust and strengthening relationships between industry and the Sarnia-Lambton community in support of a vibrant and prosperous region.
This initiative comes after an extensive 10-month period of strategic planning with input from BASES’ members, partners, and community stakeholders. The effort includes consolidating BASES’ three legacy organizations into one single entity effective January 1, 2024. It features a refreshed vision, mission, and strategy that provide a clearer definition of BASES’ core values, guiding principles and organizational structure.
Quote from General Manager Jason Vaillant: “We are excited to share this new chapter with our members, partners, and stakeholders as we continue the great work of the former CAER, IEC, and SLEA organizations. This transformation is a testament to our dedication to innovation and excellence, and it reflects our commitment to shaping a brighter future in Sarnia-Lambton.”
