The Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment and Sustainability (BASES) received a Community Champion Award of Excellence from the Canadian Fuels Association (CFA) at their inaugural event in Ottawa on June 7, 2022.
The award was presented by Bob Larocque, President of CFA. Bob made mention of the role of BASES in pre-pandemic planning, early provision of PPE to medical responders, support for the build of a mobile field hospital, and sponsorship of mass immunization clinics. Vince Gagner, General Manager of BASES, stated that he was accepting the award on behalf of BASES’ employees, committees, member companies, and Boards of Directors. BASES helps build regional connections between operating sites, communities, municipal governments, First Nations, contractors, building trades, and educators – all toward a common goal of keeping people safe.
Troy Pirsich from Imperial’s Sarnia refinery was also recognized by the CFA, receiving a Rising Star Award for his role in labour-management relations and his leadership in fundraising activities for local charities across the region. Mayor Mike Bradley received CFA’s Government Collaboration Award, recognizing him for his efforts in support of the Line 5 pipeline.
