CASA updated on major initiatives
November 19, 2021/By: Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability
The Clean Air Sarnia and Area (CASA) advisory group met for the final time in 2021 on Thursday, Nov. 4 with the attendees being updated on several major area initiatives. Attended by more than 40 individuals from the community, industry and government, the meeting was lively, engaging, and saw an excellent dialogue between all parties on a wide range of topics.
CASA attendees were informed of the over $300,000 investment in upgrades recently approved by SLEA member companies. These capital upgrades will lead to improvements at the Scott Road monitoring station, the Riverbend station, and Sombra Line station, with further upgrades to be made to the entire network that would improve data acquisition and reporting.
This investment is critical as it ensures SLEA will continue to provide high quality near real-time data to CASA for consumption by a wide variety of audiences including the community, regulatory bodies, researchers, media and other stakeholders. SLEA, through its role on CASA, is also working on ways to improve reporting of data in a simple but complete manner. Discussions over the past few CASA meetings have made it clear that how information is communicated can be as important as the information itself.
