The Sarnia Area Environmental Health Project (SAEHP) Advisory Committee hosted its first meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The objective of the meeting was to introduce the Chairs and Members of the Committee, provide an overview of all components of the project, and share initial perspectives on how best to connect with the broader community of Sarnia-Lambton.
Community member Kris Lee and Vince Gagner, General Manager of SLEA, were selected by the Ontario Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP) to Co-Chair the Advisory Committee.

The meeting included a review of project goals, study team structure, and technical overviews of the three main elements of the study including: Air Exposure and Health Risk, Study of Medicinal Plants, General Environmental Stressors.
The meeting was well attended by a range of government, community, and industrial stakeholders and discussions were engaging and productive.
This model of open collaboration and teamwork aligns perfectly with SLEA’s long history of evidence based science, engagement, and communication. The MECP will be posting project updates to the Clean Air Sarnia & Area website as they become available.
